Rape

In legal term rape is unlawful sexual intercourse were a male or female did not give consent at the time for the intercourse, and rape also is when the rapist knows that the victim has not given consent for the intercourse and doesn't care and still carries on.
Rape is rape, regardless of the relationship between the rapist and the victim. It can be a total stranger, someone you recognise by sight, but have never really communicated with or someone you know.

Rape is a very personal and intimate traumatic experience, so i think it is very hard for the victim to seek and ask for help. But there are many organisations which are qualified in dealing with such traumatic cases as they provide the following help
* a free confidential service
* counselling from a specially trained team
* an opportunity to talk through your concerns
* someone to listen sympathetically
* information on organisations which can provide further support and/or information.

5 - Respnse to Jennies Blog

Religion - After looking at jennies blog i do agree with her that by by practicing your religion and following your beliefs is a good thing as it does help to prevent you from being involved with drugs and gangs, as it helps you to do something and to be a better person by following your faith. i also agree that every religion should be respected Evan if their are different beliefs, which others don't follow upon. By doing this it will help people know each other and communicate more efficiently as they will have an understanding of each others religion and beliefs which will help to provide a friendlier environment and community where all are treated and respected for whom they are.

4 - Response to Justina's blog

Suicide - After looking at Justina's blog i do not agree with some of the comments which she has put regarding individuals who commit suicide. i think committing suicide is a certain matter where a person does it as a last resort for any reason whether it be foolish or extreme. personally as us individuals we cannot comment on what causes people to go to such an extent of killing themselves, I do believe this much that they must not be in the right mind and not mentally with it to carry out this act, so in a way as well it is not their fault because if you are in a right frame of mind then no one would attempt to kill themselves, as its not as though its a easy decision to take...

Lying

In the lecture we had a discussion on lying, many peoples views towards lying were that no matter when and why you lie, it is not exceptional because it is wrong no matter what. My views towards lying are that it is wrong because you do one thing and say another, but I also believe that that in some cases it is exceptional to lie as it brings excitement and happiness as lying to small children about Santa clause and the tooth fairy, I think by lying in this causes is exceptional as children have something to look forward to and it helps them to behave. But I do not respect it when individuals lie in a relationship because you are giving false information to others and are trying to deceive them, which can cause them to not trust you.
Many people say that they don’t lie but I personally believe that no matter what every single person does lie, because it is like a natural cause, even if the lie is big or small everyone does it but don’t realise that they are doing it.

3- Response to Satpal's Blog

Body modification - After looking at Satpal's blog on body modification, i totally agree with her that many people find that by modifying themselves they are apart of their culture and have a separate identity to others which they are happy to show. I also agree that it is their lives and if they are happy by being the way they are by modifying themselves to a certain extent, then it is not a bad thing because its their lives and bodies and they can live life to the way they want to, so others shouldn't criticise or look down to them as its their personal choice of how to look and how they want to be seen by the public.

Paedophiles

Paedophiles may seem perfectly respectable and 'nice'. They are extremely cunning and clever at worming their way into your confidence so that you trust them alone with your children. Nowadays their are many paedophiles around but they are not recogniseable. it could be even a neighbour, relative or a friend. they come from all classes, professions, racial and religious backgrounds. The majority of known paedophiles are male, though some women abuse children.
66% of paedophiles are known to the child, 34% are strangers.
Paedophiles are good at making friends with children. They usually offer to teach them games, take them on outings, give them gifts, bribes, toys & money or treats and trick children into trusting them. the easy way for paedophiles to get in contact with children is via the Internet and then to meet them up.
new laws are now coming into force to prevent paedophiles from talking to children and meeting them as the Justice 1 Committee is examining a bill to create the specific offence of "grooming" and bringing in 10-year jail terms for meeting children for sex.

Teenage Pregnancies

Well teenage pregnancy, what can I say…..nowadays the number off teenagers becoming pregnant has increased by a figure of 2.2%, as the official statistics show. The government have provided 40 million to fund teenage pregnancies, as the high number of pregnancies fell under 18’s.
I think that by having children when you are young is quite hard, as you yourself are a teenager and should be enjoying life being single and make the most of it by fulfilling your ambitions and making something out of your life. Because by having a child it is very hard and difficult and expensive too. So you have go to make sure that when you are planning to have a child you are aware of all the responsibilities which you will have to take upon, as their will be a big change o your life style, so you should make sure your well prepared and planned when deciding to raise a child and being a parent.

2 - Response to Noreens Blog

Masturbation- After looking at this masturbation log i do agree with you that masturbating is natural and that it is a private matter which individuals do not like to talk about or discuss openly in front of others. I think the reason why masturbation is not openly discussed is because many people may feel it is embarrassing to admit because other people may see it as a shameful act to carry out, so that is why people tend to hide and avoid the subject. But my personal views towards masturbation are that it is not a bad thing because it is up to every individual what they like to do with their selves and how they prefer to meet their sexual pleasures evan if it is meant by masturbating.

1-Response to Sanah's Blog

Don't Drink and Drive - After looking at the comments for this log, i do agree that drinking and driving is very bad because due to someone Else's carelessness many people loose their lives and loved ones from road accidents. When a person has been drinking they are not in the condition to walk never mind drive a vehicle, so i do believe that driving whilst you are drunk is a life threatening issue for yourself and other people around you, because due not being in your senses you have no control over the vehicle or where you are driving.
I believe that every individual who does drink and drive should be more careful and cautious that whilst they are drunk they do NOT drive as it is not safe for themselves or others.

Racism

I believe racism is when you treat someone differently or unfairly simply because they belong to a different race or culture.People can also experience prejudice because of their religion or nationality. From past experience in my personal life i can say that being a victim of racism is also a form of being bullied. It is emotional and you end up feeling isolated.
Racism takes many different forms. These can include:
Personal attacks of any kind, including violence
Written or verbal threats or insults Damage to property, including graffiti Racism can exist in all races and cultures. Racists feel threatened by anyone who is from a different race or culture. We are not born racist. Our views and beliefs develop as we grow up. If a child or young person grows up within a racist family, or has friends who are racist, they may believe that racism is normal and acceptable. Ian Wright states "Racism is hurtful and cruel and no one should put up with it."

Drugs

Drugs, drugs, drugs, well that is very common nowadays. If you are passing by alley ways or side streets you will notice groups of young youths and junkies smoking and acting all cool and bad because they are smoking a spliff or shall I say buzzing of it…
Well illegal drugs such as cocaine, heroine, cannabis and ecstasy are just really bad for anyone and a bad addiction which can result in the drug taking your life. Nowadays many people start taking drugs, because of peer pressure and wanting to fit in with the crowd, as they don’t realise that by taking drugs just for the fun of it will turn into a bad addiction which will cause them a lot of pain and damage

Bandits and Outlaws

Bandits and outlaws well the first thing you can recall upon is Robin Hood, Ned Kelly and Jessie James. As all these played a role of bad guys, but still well known as heroes. In TV series you see robin hood who steals from others but gives to the poor this looks as though he is doing it for a good cause by helping the poor in need but the way he does it by stealing is still wrong, because by looking at the such TV programmes kids and adults start to believe by doing wrong such as stealing is all for a good cause……well it’s not!!

Tattoos and body piercing

I think tattoos and body piercing are an individuals personal choice because its their body and they can do what they like with themselves. Some tattoos and body piercing do look quite good however some people do take it to an extreme level by being covered in tattoos and piercings which makes them look abnormal personally i think it looks scary by having all your body or face pierecd.many people find that by having peirces and tattoos it looks cool and makes them look different as they have their own image and appearance which stands out from the rest of us.

Shoplifting

In this lecture many people had different views about shoplifting as some believed that it was wrong to shoplift whilst others believed it was not as bad. My personal views towards shoplifting are that it is wrong no matter what the situation is and where you steal from, because you are stealing from others which is not right as they are spending money to sell goods and earn a living so it is not fair on them as they are losing out on their money.
By shoplifting many people think it is not as bad, because the consequences of stealing from a shop aren't as severe as robbing a bank or breaking in a house. But by taking the first steps to steal from a shop, you will get into the habit of stealing whatever goods you want which will turn into a daily activity as you are getting freebies. So later on in life you will not want to pay for anything which you want to purchase because you will find it more easier and fun of stealing it and getting things for free, which is not a good idea as you can end up in jail with a criminal record which will affect your lifestyle in getting a job as you will be known as a thief.

Infidelity

Well infidelity is one thing i hope i would never do, i think it is disgusting how can you cheat on your partner.you say you love them and still can be unfaithful to them.
From the lecture many people had views that infidelity is occurred because of people suffering from problems in their relationship, being bored with the same person, wanting freedom, being drunk and hurt which caused infidelity to occur.

I think that no matter what the reason be for infidelity's to take place it is wrong and shameful. i believe their is no excuse for some one to be unfaithful to their partner, because no matter what you are in your sense to commit such an disgusting and degrading act of cheating with your partner who you have exchanged vows with and promised to be loyal to.
I personally believe that before a individual cheats on their partner they should end their relationship so that the other half does not suffer from the heart ache and pain which their partner has caused by cheating on them, because the best way is to be honest rather then being known as a lying scum and cheat.

Stalking

Stalking is when a person is obsessed with you and cant stop harassing you. This sort of stalking can happen to you if someone is following you around, or is texting, ringing or sending you letters constantly, then this is a sign of unwanted attention. There are many causes which cause stalking behaviour, such as:
Many stalkers have psychological problems and may not be able to form relationships in a normal way. They may be a ex - partner and cant accept the fact that the relationship is over
Some stalkers may convince themselves that they have a relationship with their victim
Many stalkers may be motivated to get revenge
Stalkers are usually people who you have dated or been in a relationship with and just cant get no for an answer. I personally believe that stalkers are frightening and that it is terrifying for someone to stalk or harass you in anyway, the best thing would be to notify the police if you are being stalked.

Masturbation

For this lecture i really thought it will be embarrassing and very uncomfortable because its not as though everyone does masturbating, or likes to speak freely regarding this subject.
But when attending the lecture i think it was quite funny as how everyone was so cool and eager to learn some pointers. especially my friends sitting next to me.
Masturbation is quite natural for people as this is a way for them to gain their own sexual pleasure and relieve their sexual tension. Everyone has their own choice as what they like to do with their selves, personally i think i would rather be with a partner as this is more romantic and fun. I don't have anything against people who masturbate as long as they do it in private, and in their own time it does not bother me what they get up to.

Smoking

I have always believed that smoking is not good for you as it causes ill health, and is a cause for many diseases. I have always thought why people smoke, as they are aware that nicotine is addictive and is a cause for many problems but still they consume it so that they can maintain their pleasure to get a buzz.
from the lecture i realised that there are many factors which contribute in influencing individuals to smoke, as these are:

  • Depression - People suffering from emotional stress believe smoking is the answer to relieve the stress and pain.
  • Peer Pressure - Young teenagers are easily influenced to smoke so that they can fit in with the crowd & look cool with a cigarette in their mouth.
  • Cultural influences - TV advertisements make smoking look cool and desirable and show it as a positive factor to the public.
  • Films & Hollywood Stars - When teenagers see their favourite screen idols smoking in films they get influenced in copying their trend and acting like them.

I think that their is a lot of social influence which does cause people to smoke as usually teenagers get influenced so that they can look cool and be fashionable with a cigarette in their mouth.
